Dear Prof. Hada
Hello, how are you? I would like to thank you again for inviting me to
the Seminar.
It was obviously a great chance as a presenter to expose my doctoral research
on student migration in Japan (and Korea) to both Japanese and International
scholars & researchers, and many postgraduate students who are currently
doing research which relates to the higher education in Japan and elsewhere.
More than I anticipated, I received numerous lively and productive feedbacks,
and helpful comments from all participants and audiences on various cultural,
economic and institutional issues in student migration, highly skilled
migration (Global Talent issues), and internationalization of higher education
in Japan
Certainly the seminar has provided me with a great opportunity to establish
a new academic network with both Japanese and international scholars and
researchers, which surely enables me to exchange and share my further research
outcomes and new ideas with the scholars, researchers and postgraduate
students with similar research interests in various higher education issues
at international level.
In particular, concerning my doctoral research topics, since part of my
research has examined various impacts of anti-immigrant sentiments and
the growing influence of far-right parties on international student migration
in the EU and UK before and after the Brexit, it was literally possible
for me to directly encounter and interact with scholars and researchers
from UK, and during the networking event and dinner, I had a great chance
to discuss with them about many issues on changes and challenges in student
migration policies in UK and EU.
I am looking forward to having a next chance to share my research with
RIJUE and CHEER in the near future.
Kind regards
Daesung
